KELYN serves demanding government and enterprise customers by providing storage management, backup and recovery solutions and tailored IT consulting.

Question 2

How does KELYN ensure support meets federal requirements?

Question 3

What is Datastor™ and what makes it unique?

Accepted Answer

Datastor™ is KELYN's cloud backup and recovery service hosted in AWS and powered by Commvault. It combines Commvault's data‑protection platform with AWS storage and KELYN's certified support team to deliver a fully managed Commvault environment in the cloud. Datastor offers several options—including Classic, Assured Recovery (DAR), Platform Services and Accelerated Bundles—so customers can choose full control, air‑gapped/immutable recovery, SaaS‑like management or quick‑start onboarding. Top reasons to choose Datastor include multi‑account AWS architectures, use of Amazon credits, ransomware protection, support for hybrid environments, concierge support and fully managed options.

Question 4

What is Recovery Co‑Pilot (RECO) and how does it work?

Accepted Answer

Recovery Co‑Pilot is a proactive cyber‑resilience service that goes beyond simple backups. It offers a continuous‑improvement model where KELYN experts assess readiness, design tailored recovery solutions and provide ongoing collaboration to keep the customer's recovery strategy ahead of evolving threats. RECO includes a 'KELYN Score' assessment covering environment vulnerabilities, core infrastructure, backup agents and recovery testing, plus threat‑scanning and incident‑response‑plan support aligned with NIST SP 800‑61. This service is available to federal, state, local government, higher‑education and commercial clients.

Question 5

What is Microsoft Backup and how does it protect Microsoft 365 data?

Accepted Answer

Microsoft Backup is KELYN's managed service that combines Microsoft 365 with Commvault backup to provide full data protection. It simplifies licensing, deployment and management of Microsoft 365, offers secure storage outside Microsoft 365/Azure, and delivers advanced archiving and content indexing. Other benefits include resilient data availability through multi‑cloud replication, optimized storage through archiving and extended backup coverage for Azure and on‑prem resources.

Question 6

What is the difference between snapshots and backups, and why does KELYN recommend both?

Accepted Answer

A snapshot is a point‑in‑time copy of data on primary storage and is ideal for quick, targeted recovery; however it consumes primary‑storage space. A backup is a secondary copy stored separately from the primary system, providing long‑term and application‑aware recoverability. KELYN recommends combining snapshots with true backups to ensure both fast recovery and long‑term, independent data protection.

Question 7

Why is protecting Active Directory (AD) critical for enterprises?

Accepted Answer

Active Directory is widely used—over 90% of businesses rely on AD. Mismanagement exposes 90% of these businesses to security breaches, and threat actors attack 95 million AD accounts daily. AD is often a target because privileged accounts allow attackers to control corporate networks; about 80% of breaches involve access to a privileged account. KELYN's focus on comprehensive backup, recovery and resilience services—such as Datastor, RECO and Microsoft Backup—helps organizations maintain reliable identity services and recover quickly if AD/Entra ID is compromised.

Question 8

How effective is KELYN at migrating large data volumes to the cloud?

Accepted Answer

In a 2024 case study, a top U.S. aerospace and defense manufacturer used KELYN Technologies to migrate six petabytes of data to AWS in just two months. KELYN moved 95% of the customer's data within 60 days, saving the client about $544,811 over five years and avoiding extra datacenter costs. The project also enabled direct data transfer from NetApp storage to AWS without costly intermediaries and allowed the client to scale from 4 PB to over 10 PB within a year—demonstrating KELYN's ability to handle large‑scale, cost‑efficient migrations.
